Until fairly recently any individual who indicated concern about the wreckage of the environment raised skeptical eyebrows. That’s a thing of the past now, with everybody being aware of the problems besetting the planet and the shared responsibility we have for turning things around. The experts are agreed that we cannot transform things for the better without everyone’s active participation. This needs to happen soon and living in methods more friendly to the environment should become an objective for every individual family. Keep reading for some ways to go green and save energy, mainly in the kitchen.

Why don’t we begin with something not that hard, changing the actual light bulbs. This will certainly go beyond the kitchen, but that is okay. You really need to replace your incandescent lights along with energy-saver, compact fluorescent light bulbs. They cost a little bit more in the beginning, but they last ten times longer, and use a lesser amount of electricity. Changing the light bulbs would keep plenty of bulbs out of the landfills, which is good. It goes further than just exchanging the lights, though; turning off lights that aren’t needed is another good thing to do. The family spends a lot of time in the kitchen, and how often does the kitchen light go on in the morning and is left on all day long. And it’s not limited to the kitchen, it goes on in other parts of the house at the same time. Make a habit of having the lights on only when they are needed, and you’ll be surprised at the amount of electricity you save.

From the above it should be obvious that just in the kitchen, by itself, there are numerous little opportunities for saving energy and money. Natural living is actually something we can all accomplish, without difficulty. Typically, all it will take is a little common sense.

  3. As the cabbage leaves begin to loosen, peel away with tongs, one by one and put aside. About 8 leafs will work. You can easily double this recipe, if you have more cabbage leaves!!
  4. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl, (yep, get in there with your hands) except for soup and tomatoes.

Roll once, tuck. Then take left and then right side of leaf, fold in and repeat, rolling and tucking until cabbage is rolled tightly. As you can see, I doubled the recipe in this photo. The amount of meat mixture and size of cabbage is really up to you. This recipe is very versatile.

  7. Cook on low for 8 hours. Or until tender.
  8. There should be plenty of tomato gravy to put over some mashed potatoes to serve with your yummy cabbage rolls! Enjoy!
  9. After rolling, cabbages can be portioned out and frozen, ready to eat at a later time!
  10. If you have leftover cabbage leaves, you could chop them up and add a bit to the sauce, save for a wonderful addition to soup or make my recipe for cabbage and noodles! - - https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/368685-lulus-fried-cabbage-and-noodles
